In Hattrick you are the owner and manager of a virtual
football team. You are in charge of training your squad,
planning the youth academy, buying and selling talents in
the international transfer market as well as for setting up
the strategy for league or cup matches.
In Hattrick there are a number of international leagues,
each one forming a community where users discuss tactics or
club news. A large part of the Hattrick magic is the way you,
as the manager, shape the Club over the years, caring
for individual players and their evolution. What separates
Hattrick from most other computer games is that Hattrick is
a continuing gaming experience. Many users that started out
in 1997 are still with us as managers. This gives the game
an unique history and authenticity, that resembles
of "real" football. The upside of Hattrick, of course, is
that here you are in charge!
When Hattrick began in 1997 it was in the form of a spare
time project. The interest for the game grew fast, and it
started to live a life of its own, with support functions
and services that the inventor Björn Holmér had never
envisioned from the start. After three years Hattrick had 1,700 users and a very long waiting list. As Hattrick closed
in on it´s eleventh season in October 2000, we developed a
completely new technical platform for the game that made it
possible to accept more users and to translate Hattrick
into new languages. Today the game has hundreds of thousands of users and is
available in more than 20 languages world wide.
